Blog Number one

So, after four years studying at University, I decided it was time for me to take a gap year and try to explore a little piece of our planet . . .

I decided that setting up a blog would be a good idea, hopefully it will prove to be an efficient and convenient medium to keep family and friends informed of where I am and what I'm up to.

I'm by no means an accomplished writer and no doubt my posts will be riddled with both spelling and grammatical errors, and may even prove to be rather boring, all I can do is apologise in advance.

How often will I update this Blog? Who knows? But I will most certainly try my hardest to update it as often as possible.

Right, so now the formalities are out of the way here's a rough plan of where I intend to go.

Initially I intended just to go to South America, but as the planning process progressed I decided to incorporate Central America and Cuba. The plan is a fairly simple one: On the 6th of January I fly out to Havana, Cuba, where I will spend just over two weeks. My intention is to explore as much of the country as I can given the time restrictions I face. From Cuba I fly to Mexico city and four days later, Cancun.

Once in Cancun the real 'overland' adventure begins as I wave goodbye to travel via aeroplane, and begin to use buses etc. From Cancun I intend to travel South through Central America, hopefully visiting the following countries along the way: Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.

Panama will be my last destination in Central America and the point from where I will make the journey into South America, Colombia being my first stop. Once in South America I intend to navigate the continent in a clockwise fashion, starting in Colombia and ending in Ecuador, from where I will fly back to the United Kingdom. Hopefully, during my time in South America, my travels will encompass visits to: Venezuela, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru, as well Colombia and Ecuador.

Well that's the plan, nothing is set in stone so things may change but I suppose time will tell. If anybody has any advice or places they think i should go and visit feel free to let me know.

Peace.
